Middlesex County
The region's boating hub on the lower Rappahannock: Deltaville's marinas, the colonial port town of Urbanna, and Chesapeake Bay frontage at Stingray Point. Saluda is the county seat.
Essex County
Tappahannock anchors the county on the Rappahannock River with a historic downtown, a VCU Health community hospital, and the US 17/360 crossroads. Farmland and river frontage fill out the rest.
King and Queen County
A long, narrow county of timberland and farms along the Mattaponi River, seated at the courthouse village of King and Queen Court House. Among the least populous counties in eastern Virginia.
King William County
The Town of West Point sits where the Mattaponi and Pamunkey rivers meet to form the York; the upper county is farmland within commuting range of Richmond. Home to the Pamunkey and Mattaponi reservations, two of the oldest in the United States.
